Social Media Lead

NYC Digital works on making government digital services more accessible and user-focused. This includes guiding how the City uses social media to connect with New Yorkers. The Social Media Lead will join the team to lead content creation for the City's social media properties as well as develop citywide social media standards and policy.

  Responsibilities

  • Create content and strategy for NYC.gov’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Set citywide social media standards and policy
  • Create and manage a citywide content calendar
  • Support skills development for social media managers in all NYC agencies
  • Lead the City’s social media presence toward a customer-service approach
  • Consult on select digital engagement projects
  • Evaluate the strength of NYC’s digital engagement
  • Put on skills-building events for municipal workers, including an annual social media day conference and smaller trainings


  Skills We're Seeking

Track record of overseeing successful social media campaigns

Vision for how government should engage New Yorkers through social media

Ability to lead events and training sessions

Knowledge of how to succeed on today’s most popular social media accounts

Interest in helping connect New Yorkers to services and information


  Education and Experience

BA and 2 years of related experience.
